Martin Wolfe
Martin Wolfe, son of Jacob Wolfe, Sr., was born on 2 Apr 1788 in Virginia and died on 24 Apr 1859 in Smyth Co., VA. His death record states, "Martin Wolfe, age 71 years 22 days, died (place not listed), birthplace (not listed), parents (not listed), occupation - farmer, spouse - Rachel." Martin Wolfe purchased over six acres of land from his brother, Michael Wolfe, on 20 Aug 1816 in Washington Co., VA. Martin and Rachel Wolfe sold the same land plus two additional tracts to Michael Wolfe on 21 Mar 1840 in Smyth Co., VA.
Records indicate that Martin Wolfe was married twice. According to Kimberling Church Baptismal records, Martin Wolfe had a daughter, Elizabeth, born 26 Jun 1812. The only parent listed on the record is Martin "Wolff" which indicates the mother, Martin's first wife, may have died prior to the baptismal ceremony held on 30 Aug 1812. Additionally, when Elizabeth, "daughter of Martin Wolf of said county," married Edward Hutton on 17 Oct 1833 in Smyth Co., VA, a woman named Nancy Hutton swore by oath that Elizabeth was over the age of 21, proving that she was born before 17 Oct 1812. Martin married (2) Rachel DeBord on 29 Apr 1813 in Washington Co., VA. She was the daughter of Reuben DeBord and Sarah Hubble. Rachel was born on 29 May 1794.
