14) Robert C. Welch, born September 1842. He married first Mary Ann "Polly" (?); second Catherine Alice Dean on October 31, 1909 in Claiborne Co., TN. Catherine was born November 1, 1873 and died in 1937. She was the daughter of Granvillle T. Dean and Anna Elizabeth Thompson.
The following deed is recorded in Lee Co., VA:
This indenture, made this 6th day of November A.D. 1900, between Robert Welch and wife Mary Welch of the County of Claiborne in the State of Tennessee of the first part, and John Johnson of the County of Lee, State of Va. of the second part, Witnesseth, that the said parties of the first part, for and in consideration of the sum of Seventy Five Dollars to us in hand paid by the said party of the second part, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged hath bargained, granted, sold and conveyed unto the said party of the second part, the following described lot or parcel of land to wit, situated in District No. - Lee County Va. near Powells River the Boundarys are as folowes to wit Begining in Melvin Combs line on a stake running Southwardly with Morgan Welchs line to the Tennessee line thence East with the Tennessee line and William Welches line to a stake a corner between Robert Welch and William Welch thence with Welches line to Melvin Combs line containing 8 acres be the same more or less with the hereditaments, appurtenances, estate, title and interest thereunto, hereby releasing all claim to Homestead and Dower therein. To have and to hold the said land to the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns forever; and the said party of the first part, for themselves and for their heirs, executors and administrators do further covenant with the said party of the second part, heirs and assigns, that they are lawfully seized and possessed of said land in fee smple and that they have a good right to convey the same and that the same is unincumbered, and the said party of the first part doth further covenant and bind themselves heirs and assigns to warrant and forever defend the title to said land to the said party of the second part, his heirs and assigns against the lawful claims of all persons whomsoever. In witness whereof, the said party of the first part has hereunto set their hand and Seal, the day and year first above written.
