Here are some of my favorite BREADS recipes.
Combine first five ingredients in mixing bowl. Stir until well blended. Set aside. Place shortening in medium-sized iron skillet. Place in 450 degree oven until shortening melts. Pour in batter. Return to oven and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
Dissolve yeast in water in large bowl, set aside. Stir shortening into hot mashed potatoes. Add sugar and salt, beat in eggs. Add to yeast mixture. Beat in 3 cups of the flour. Add remaining flour. Let dough rise. Store in refrigerator (for up to one week). Make rolls as needed. Dip in cooled melted margarine and let rise in a warm place. Bake at 400 degrees about 15 minutes or until done.
Dissolve yeast in water, set aside. In large bowl, combine sugar and flour. Cut in shortening. Add yeast mixture and buttermilk. Knead then let rise in warm place until double. (Dough may be stored in refrigerator overnight.) Roll out and cut out biscuits. Place on baking sheet. Bake at 475 degrees for 10-12 minutes or until done.
Brown sausage, drain. Saute onion and celery in butter. Combine stuffing and seasonings in large bowl. Add sausage, onion, celery, and chicken broth; mix well. Place in greased 13"x9" pan. Bake at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes.
Cream pulp and sugar, add beaten eggs. Put baking soda into buttermilk and stir until foaming ceases. Add to pulp mixture alternately with dry ingredients which have been sifted together. When all is well-mixed, and the evaporated milk and butter. Pour into greased 13"x9" pan. Bake at 350 degrees for about one hour.
Combine all ingredients. Mix well. Pour into well-buttered 13"x9" pan. Bake at 400 degrees until brown. Serve hot with butter.
