The following deed was recorded in Lee Co., VA, apparently after John's death.


This indenture made this thirtyeth day of August one thousand eight hundred and ninty two between Nancy Beeler of the County of Grainger and State of Tennessee of the one part and James M. Welch of the County of Hancock Tennessee of the other part witnesseth that the said Nancy Beeler for and in consideration of the sum of thirty five dollars to her in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath and by these presents doth grant, bargain, sell, alien and confirm unto the said James M. Welch his heirs and assignes forever a certain tract or parsal of land containing eight acres and 2/11 lying and being in Lee County State of Va. near Powels River Beginning on a stake on the Va. and Tennessee line and with Lot No. 11 N. 211 West 98 poles to a stake in the old line N. 55 E. 19 poles to a stake S. 311 E. 103 poles to a stake in the State line and with the same west 9 poles to the beginning containing 8 2/11 acres with all and singular the woods and warters, properties, commodities, heraditements and appertanances whatsoever to the said tract of land belonging or in any wise appertaining and the reversion and reversions and remander and remanders and issues thereof all the estate, right, title, interest, property claim or demand of her the said Nancy Beeler her heirs and assigns of and to the saim and every part or parsel thereof others in llaw or equity to have and to hold the same eight and 2/11 acres of land with the appertanances thereunto the said James M. Welch his heirs and assigns forever against the lawful title, claim or demand of all and every other person or persons whatsoever will warrant and forever defend by these presents in witness thereof the said Nancy Beeler hereunto set her hand and seal the day and date year first above written Signed sealed and delivered in the presents of us.
