William and Clarkie (Schofield) Welch had the following children:

A)

Azariah Welch, born January 1844. He married Sarah Winnie Bullen. Azariah sold his interest in his father's land to his brother, John Welch.

B)

Mary Ann "Polly" Welch, born about 1846. She was listed as "Pollyann" on the 1860 Hancock Co., TN census.

C)

Nancy Manerva Welch, born about 1848. She was listed as "Nancy M." age 2 in the 1850 Hancock Co., TN census. However, on the 1860 Hancock Co., TN census, she was listed as "Manerva" age 12. She was listed as "Minerva" age 22 on the 1870 Grainger Co., TN census.

D)

Elizabeth Welch, born about 1850.

E)

Henry E. Welch, born December 1854. He married Mary Matilda Coffey. Henry sold his interest in the Tandy Welch land to his brother, John D. Welch.

F)

James Welch, born about 1856. A "James Welch" married Ida Shephard on January 30, 1898 in Union Co., TN. No evidence has proven that this is the same James Welch as listed here. Although not specifically mentioned within the deed made by Azariah Welch to his brother, John, the outside packaging of the original deed includes the names of Azariah's brothers, namely James and "Peary" along with his. This could indicate that all three brothers conveyed their interest in the land to John.

G)

Elliott B. Welch, born about 1858. He married Nancy (?).

H)

John D. Welch, born about 1861. John left his property to his sister, Laura.

March 19, 1904

This day I do make my will to my sister Laura Stephens. I will her all my land laying in Va. and known as the Tandy Welch land and also all my property.

John D. Welch

I)

Pearcy Welch, born about 1864.

J)

Laura Welch, born October 8, 1868, died September 10, 1924. She is buried in the Scott Cemetery in Grainger Co., TN. She married Samuel D. Stephens. In 1896, Laura, her husband Samuel, and her brother, Henry E. Welch, sold their interest in the Tandy Welch land to her brother, John D. Welch. The land was returned to her when John died, by way of his will (see John D. Welch above). In 1905, Laura and Samuel sold the same tract of land to Morgan Welch, son of Stephen B. Welch.

K)

Cornelius Welch, born about 1870.
